Norms, fraud , lies and the evil consequences .
« on: March 09, 2017, 08:00 »
I'm trying a new topic . Europe is the diesel continent .
https://de.statista.com/statistik/daten/studie/473962/umfrage/pkw-neuzulassungen-dieselanteil-in-weltweiten-regionen/
Share of diesel authorizations
53% -    EU
52% -    India
3%   -    US
2%   -    Japan
1 %  -    China
Only India has a similar high diesel share . With diesel engines, the CO2 emissions are to be reduced, the diesel can . But diesel is dirty. The consumers of clean diesel was tricked . They were not only deceive by the manufacturers , but also by the authorities . Many vehicles met the Euro 5 standard , and that is really clean enough . But unfortunately this was a big lie, no diesel really fulfilled this norm . Comparative tests during the ride showed that other diesel vehicles are not cleaner than VW Diesel . The reason are the shutdown devices that all manufacturers use. This is allowed to protect the motor . An example - in many vehicles the exhaust gas purification is switched off when the outside temperature is lower than 17 degrees Celsius . So in the winter we drive without exhaust gas cleaning . But there are more "good reasons" to switch off the exhaust gas purification. Exhaust gas cleaning was the exception, not the rule. Our diesel is dirty, and now everyone knows it . Stuttgart is the first city that demands the Euro 6 standard for diesel , for environmental zones . Other cities will follow. Euro 5 was a lie, but no one admits. We simply invent a new standard , and the only victims are the buyers of Euro 5 diesels . But that has consequences . Ever less want to buy a diesel . But the manufacturers can not simply replace these with gasoline , because they then do not meet the CO2 limitation . An export success is also not conceivable with diesel . The manufacturers are in the Bredouille , with which drive they are to deliver their vehicles . The diesel lie demand answers , and all liars must be unmasked . By this I mean, above all , politics .

Merkel heard about Dieselgate on the news

The chancellor tries to defend both German regulators and the crucial car industry.

From; http://www.politico.eu/article/merkel-media-first-to-tell-me-about-vw-emissions-cheating/

Quote
BERLIN — The German government didn’t drop the ball on keeping tabs on Volkswagen, Chancellor Angela Merkel told a parliamentary committee investigating the Dieselgate scandal.

“We had no scandal. Volkswagen had a scandal,” she said during Wednesday’s 130-minute hearing.

Quote
Despite the scale of the scandal, which has so far cost Volkswagen more than $20 billion and tarnished the reputation of Germany’s premier industrial company, the issue has barely resonated during the ongoing election campaign.

Merkel’s conservative Christian Democratic Union and the leading opposition Social Democrats are closely tied to VW at both the federal and state government level.

That’s left Merkel playing a delicate balancing act as she tried to ensure no blame stuck to German regulators, accused of turning a blind eye to VW cheating, while also sparing a sector responsible for about a quarter of Germany’s GDP.

------------

As we have both pointed out in the past the fault lies at the EU level; a "deliberate" attempt to prevaricate, polite for lie, on this issue.

But why not, after all the Euro is the grandfather of EU prevarication along with respect for democratic values and privacy.
Go solar, go slow.

Why are you asking me this ? What you wrote is known to me . The authorities wash their hands in innocence . It bothers me just like you .

Constantly new scandals . The German automobile industry saws on the branch to which it sits . A minister recently warned of a loss of image . Much too late, this has happened long ago . The policy has long pampered the car industry, and has violated its duty of supervision . The automatic shutdown of exhaust gas purification was long known, and allowed by lawmakers. At temperatures below 17 degrees Celsius the exhaust gas cleaning is switched off . In Germany this is about 80 percent of a year. What does it make sense to test the function of an exhaust gas purification, which is known to be switched off most of the time anyway ? This question must be addressed to the politically responsible. An environmental association sued on Friday with success against the operation of diesel passenger cars in the city of Stuttgart. Similar lawsuits are threatening in 87 German cities . The court can not adopt a driving ban, the legislator must do. And the now has hardly another option . The software update that negotiated the auto industry with the policy marks the court as inadequate . A spokesman for the plaintiff said to clean the cars, a technical upgrade would be necessary, which would cost about 1500 euros per car . It is possible to clean diesel , the trucks are cleaner than the passenger cars . They want driving bans to force the industry to act . It could be an example, also for other countries of the EU . Of the nitric oxides in the metropolitan areas , 67 per cent are on the account of diesel passenger cars, and for comparison - only 4 per cent on the account of gasoline vehicles . The mess is so bad, because the policy has been watching too long without acting and thus preventing the fraud. The policy was companion of the scam . In the end , they did not help the car industry .
