The graphic shows the mood development for the two candidates Merkel and Schulz. Unlike France there are only 2 the chancellors can be . German policy is very static and oriented towards continuity . Schulz's candidacy triggered an unexpected hype for me . But it was just a strawfire . Merkel , a year ago still in her greatest crisis , perched above all, as the German politician with the most approval . This is also a mystery to me. Schulz is accused of not being clear about his political goals. But Merkel is also not. We talk about relatively unimportant things. Europapolitically , we must as always buy the cat in a sack . Our politicians is it enough to say that Europe is good for us and we are for Europe . More does not come . Europe is a subject with which the people should not be alarmed . All relavant parties, with the exception of the AFD and the LINKE , differ little . Europe is facing a directional decision and we are not talking about it . Germany is like a ship where you can argue about who is doing what on the ship . But not about where the ship sails . The direction is reason of state .

It is very likely that Merkel will also be the new chancellor . But an absolute majority is unlikely . Merkel needs a coalition partner . The wish partner is the FDP . Thats gonna be scarce . In the event that the voices are not enough is also thought to bring the Grünen into the boat . But just for that, now the hurdles were set too high . The Grünen made this weekend , the same-sex marriage to a non-negotiable precondition . You could talk about that . But they also demand the withdrawal from the coal energy until 2030 . The 20 most dirty power stations should still to be shut down in the next legislative period . In the event that these demands are not dissuasive enough , the Grünen still have a third demand . From 2030, should it be forbidden to build cars with combustion engines in Germany . With this , the Greens have clearly said that they do not want to make any realpolicy , they want to be the idealists far from reality . The Greens want to be again the party for the voters who are just as dreamy idealists . But then opposition .
